Team Gymkhana,

Match responsibilities and details forthcoming.

The teams for the June MSCL matches + are listed below.  Details forthcoming.
Many of the F1’ers have been punching above their weight while others have
been mostly MIA.  Let's ensure we all pull together as a team.  Roster for F1
is pretty much solidified, with perhaps one more rookie to be added for the
2018 season.

2018 is already off to a decent start in terms of cricket and ancillary discipline
on game days.  Extraordinary support by the XIIth man, XIIth man....on game
days.  Misses have been on forward thinking initiatives, match reports, Cinco
de Mayo execution, kids and family involvement and other addressable issues.
Major areas of improvement: more team-wide involvement needed.

We are all friends here, most of us are very good friends: even if you don't do
anything: it is OK-really it is, if you are in F1 team you will get to play a
minimum of three MSCL matches, possibly even more just for signing up and
showing for matches.  We are all in this team because we want to hang out
with each other while enjoying each others swiftly dwindling cricketing skills ;).
That is not entirely true though: people are able to express themselves differently
on the cricket field. Whether it is Midhun’s first 50 in MSCL and consistency with
the bat, 4- 300+ batting scores in 2017- MSCL record for a team and so much
more.  This team defies preconceived expectations.

With people like Bikram- 23 years, Nitish- 21 years, Nafis-22 years(MSCL- over
a decade in BGSC), Deepak-17 years, Parak- 16 years and so on, BGSC-F1
represents a disproportionate amount of BGSC experience.  Our contribution
in all aspects of the club needs to be proportionate to that experience, in June
we will start to focus more on this.

Signup for BGSC-T tab (Tennis Cricket league), July MSCL matches
BGSC-F1 tab, Friendly matches BGSC-Friendly tab.  Grass cutting-
send me a note, plan for 3.5 hour stint on Thursday or Friday
(preferably Friday).

On the cricket field, these were our playoff games last year.  With 6 of the
10 teams making playoffs, it is likely that we will be in the mix.  More on that
later.
The next 11 matches  + friendlies will focus on getting our fielders, batsmen and
bowlers facing a variety of situations.

For the SF match, take Midhun/Pawan’s 5 overs out and we have 5 extras in
the match, 2 were byes: that is world class.  Let's work on stuff like that.
We have June-July-August.  All 20 odd members will play 3 games, earn the
rest (by showing up).  Some of the areas we can all contribute towards are
listed below.

  • Umpires training:  Dilip Chavan, Bikram Singh, Deepak Chadha, Nitish
  • Bahadur trained.  Need two more. Dilip has already officiated a match,

  • hopefully we will get this important check done as a team and club.
  • Ground maintenance, grass cutting etc: Raja Tummla, Parak Ananta,
  • Bikram Singh, Deepak Chadha, Marcus Jodhan, Dilip Chavan, Nitish Bahadur
  • have been consistent contributors...if you don't see your name here, it was
  • either an oversight by me or you have genuinely not really contributing in
  • helping your teammates here.
  • Friendly Matches: Bikram Singh, Parak Ananta, Pawandeep Heer, Dilip
  • Chavan, Imran Riaz, John Sidhu.  ALL players should play at least 3 Friendly
  • matches a year.  We all need to step up here, F1 should have at least 5+ players
  • sign up for all friendly matches.  F1 team is the senior most team in BGSC i
  • n terms of experience with the club and its culture, the more we play with
  • other club members the more the “soft benefit” to the club in expanding our
  • club culture.
  • BGSC-T: Tennis cricket matches.   Raja Kolli, Bikram Singh, Parak Ananta.
  •  BGSC is part of NECA tennis cricket league and has been a star performer
  • for many years.  We as a club have failed to really put this front and center.
  • There are multiple benefits of the BGSC-Tennis cricket team, cricket practice,
  • benefits inherent to Friendly matches, plus this can also prove to be a future
  • recruiting tool for the club.  I would hope that EVERY ONE of us signs up for at
  • least 2 or the 11 matches on the schedule, hopefully more.
  • BGPL: Satya Sundaraneedi, Bikram Singh, Deepak Chadha, Pawandeep Heer,
  • Dilip Chavan, Mani Singh, Midhun Kumar & Parak Ananta.  All of you played an
  • important role in BGPL 2018.
  • Other notable contributions:
    • MSCL: Dilip Chavan
    • Laf-a-thon WDC Charitable contribution: Bikram Singh, Masood Shaikh,
    • Parak Ananta, Deepak Chadha, Nitish Bahadur, Dilip Chavan and Raja Tummla.
    • Cinco de Mayo Beverage planning and execution: Baljit Gill, Bikram Singh
  • Need F1 Leaders for:
    • BGSC Kids Camp: 6-8 week kids planning, coaching, coordinating.
    • ???
    • Cracker Barrel Fair: Lead BGSC’s annual charity contribution to WDC. ???
  • Run Net sessions: Thursday net sessions looks like young cubs running and
  • jumping around aimlessly, with little regard to fielding and specific drills for
  • players.  We definitely need someone who can take the lead on this. ???
