The bottom line is we are playing "!@#$TTY" cricket. Apparently a much better "cricketing" side (compared 2016) again falling flat on its face.

DJ, must have fought hard for those 15 balls, I could sense it on the left coast watching and refreshing the browser every 15 seconds. I was left wincing, after the second wicket and we were essentially 35 all out. We had a long tail apparently 😎.
I will be announcing the team in the next 24-48 hours. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, anyone that backs out frivolously from their commitment to play will NOT play in this team in 2018 and will be viewed with prejudice, check your indicated availability and adjust if the state of affairs has shifted for you.
Every player in this team has gotten plenty of great opportunity to bat and bowl and many have performed admirably and rest cant complain. Mani and Satya shined brightly in April; Deepak, Baljit, Nitish and Vishal May through August... rest have had a peripheral relationship with the club and the team. Mostly absent, but exceptional when around. I hope the next few months allows us to add your name added to the list above.
2018 BGSC-F will look different that this iteration, this team will remain the tip of the spear for BGSC along with the A Team in 2018. F will embody the spirit of friendship and club cricket and this will necessitate cutting a few cord's here and there. Projecting forward: Satya (leading Cracker Barrel Fair) & Midhun-BGPL and post-season Gymkhana, I know I am missing a task for Nitish and Marcus. As a club, we will muddle along, but this team F must be the beacon for the club and that means making your presence felt in a meaningful and constructive way.
Now the team...
This is the final match of the regular season, and an eventful season with some high highs and low lows is coming to a conclusion. The F'ers are close to graduating again. A learning process, team stepping up on many fronts, and then a lingering slackness...as a team, we probably contributed more collectively towards the club in all fronts than any other team, but still the impact was muted as we did not take leadership of much- the time for this starts now. The metamorphosis of this young team started in 2017 but much more needs to be done to achieve the promise of the team.
now onto cricket...
I am little surprised by the tepidness of our collapses, abject collective failures in batting, bowling and fielding. Today Nitish Bahadur is #87 on the bowling records of MSCL Div IV, yeah right- he is and we are all responsible for this.
Remember this ?? I know I know, 5 extras are a bit too extravagant in 7 overs, 3 of them were sheer frustration.

& there is more, the following scorecard, I had to tell Nitish to bowl "less well".

Over 20 catches dropped- I bowled 7 overs and had 8 dropped catches, 3 in one over and Nitish, "chall rehen de", lets say he just bowled too well.
Memories are pesky buggers, they linger, I wish we had such opponents that sparked such zeal.

A decade on...

As a shocker, DC Jaan, drops the easiest of chances, and then what atrocity does that unleashe. Vishal drops 2 back to back lobs for a match total of 4 and finally does "catch" one. Another 20+ game between catches, REAL easy stumpings and hilariously inept runout attempts, but who remembers the brilliance of Marcus's direct throw ?
Well what does it all mean ? I am not quite sure yet. But for one, age is not on our side, we are not applying ourselves enough. The only evidence of that is that we have done better, even this year. So the potential to improve exists.
I think we will win this match. At 18, my cricketing days were unlimited...but now, many of us are running on fumes. It's like Saragarhi, every match counts (a tad dramatic and grossly irreverent but with some small kernel of truth). I pretty much treat every match as the last stand, pardon me if I push all of us a little harder. If you are in the playing XII, let's finish the season with an all out effort.
Last match= great food, good music and a celebration of the season.
