The reluctant batsman "Mokkapatti" -A "Draft" from May 2015 BGSC-A chronicles !

Team Gymkhana,

Tie game, BGSc wins in super over.

The reluctant batsman "Mokkapatti" is out till next weekend.  Last weekend we had a silly game, did not score enough, bowled too many wides and no balls and dropped catches.  Even with the dropped chances, I would have expected a bit more calmness in the field with such a seasoned team.

As a club, we ran short on food, that should never happen.  Midhun, help me keep an eye on that and lets supplement when that is projected.

Raja Kolli- always a champion.  great grunt work with the bat and ball.  We need more of that unselfish effort.  3 bad balls in 9 overs.  I know you can improve.

Midhun, you also came good today, with bat and ball-  still too many wides.   Just focus on the top of the off stump.  3 wickets were crucial.  You will be a much better player when you become a rhino and shrug away the catcalls from the gallery.  Your quick 15 runs were also crucial today.

Amrinder, who made you the bloody batsman ?  Joking.  You batted quite well last year as well.  Great job, carrying on the good work from 2014 with the bat and the ball.  You have a great warrior spirit, fuel it, we need you roaring- more so than last year, love your spirit.  Stay with it, while the team sorts itself out around you.

Parak, you know we are going to have at least three parties commemorating your 50th birthday, lest you forget.  6 dismissals is probably a record.  You are always understated (as a cricketer-team player and unselfish to the core).  You are quite the man, quite awesome- you are one of my hero's.  But, why the heck did you not score 100 on this perfect day ?  Your keeping was brilliant.

Abhi- after two games you are still a sort of enigma for me, that will change.  You are confident- loved to see your hand raised during the super over.  You have the capability to bat,  you bowled what we asked of you;  under duress and delivered, last Sunday.  On the batting front, I am profiling you with as a solid batsman with a less that 100 strike rate.  We need better than run-a-ball as a rule of thumb.  Of course every game is different and will pose different challenges, a good team will always have players that are quick to adapt to the situation and get on top.

Yash- you had that natural flair and elegance of players like Yuvraj Singh- raw talent and natural ability.  despite the glaring eyes of my teammates, I put you under pressure "opening the bowling" and all - you handled that, the 'no-ball gate", the under-pressure last spell - quite well.  With little work, you can be a top bowler in MSCL.

Wajahat Shaikh- it was great to have you as a teammate 3 years ago and it is great to have you as a teammate now.  Please get off your own back, cut yourself a bit of slack.  You are not 19, other than Parak, none of us are.  Enjoy the cricket that you play, do your best and let the chips fall where they may.  You have superb abilities, back yourself.

Purak- very excited to have you in the team.  Solid batting this year so far.  With the bowling/fielding performances we are having we must score 280 to win MOST games. Always keep an eye on the batting strike rate.  I don't like your bowling so far this season, you are underperforming there.  For the team to succeed, you have to bowl better.

Marcus- thank you for being there for the team.  The worst day possible for you personally.  Markee you have probably taken more "cluch" catches that rest of BGSC-A put together over the years. long-off to long on, - over after over- year after year.  a great team player- honor to have such a soul in the team and club.

Mokka- someone has to take a hard look at the mirror.  If I had asked over the P/A system which 3 BGSC-A members should bat ? 99 of the 100 people would have picked Mokka as one of the 3.  The only exception being Mokka, that includes the umpire as well.  Great batting to finish the game with flair.  The nice flat throws from the boundary are a nice bonus.
See you soon.

That said Mokka, Markee, Yash and Raja Kolli make way for Angad,  Raja T,  Saajith and Pavan Putra as the playing XI.

Eagle is flying high, topping the charts, the last game played here at the same venue was a blowout win for BGSC-A as we roared to the finals.  We must bowl smart and bat positive to win on Sunday.  Lets start playing like champions.
